Dr. Phuong Nguyen, DMD., MS.
Dr. Nguyen grew up in Vietnam where she attended college and graduated as an Engineer. She then moved to the US with her mom and decided she wanted to go back to school to be an Orthodontist where she felt she could combine her love for teeth and oral health with her engineering background and experiences. She began college at George Mason University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology. She then attended dental school at Case Western Reserve University, School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio as a recipient of the Air Force Professional Scholarship.
Dr. Nguyen served in the Air Force for 4 years as a General Dentist in South Carolina and then went on to complete her Orthodontic Residency in San Antonio, Texas through the Tri-Service Orthodontic Residency Program. She received her diploma in orthodontics together with a Master’s Degree in Oral Biology. She then continued to serve as an Air Force orthodontist in Okinawa, Japan before she moved here to continue serving at Langley Air Force Base in Hampton. At Langley, she was a faculty member of the Uniformed Services University and Director of Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) - Orthodontic Program, teaching orthodontics curriculum to the AEGD residents while also serving as the Chief Orthodontist in the dental clinic. As her commitment with the Air Force came to end, she worked hard to find an office to call home prior to joining us here at Virginia Beach Orthodontics!
In her spare time, Dr. Nguyen loves working on DIY home projects, gardening and wood burning. She loves to spend any time she can with her family and of course, we can’t forget her Kung-Fu!

Office Manager
Katy was born and raised in Miami, FL. She graduated from the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL in 2017 where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree with a focus in Public Health. She is currently attending City University of New York’s School of Public Health for her Master’s Degree in Health Management and Policy. She has worked in the orthodontic field since 2017 and is passionate about being a part of our patients life changing journeys to happier and healthier smiles. Katy welcomed her daughter, Maleah, into the world in November 2019 and enjoys long romantic walks down the aisles of Target with a Starbucks coffee in her hand.

Marketing Coordinator
Sarah was born and raised in Charleston, SC where she started working in the orthodontic field in high school. She has 10+ years and over those years has worn many hats! Sarah moved to Virginia Beach in 2019 courtesy of her husband being in the Navy. She loves to call VB home. They have a little girl and are expecting another baby this year! Sarah loves the orthodontic world because she feels that “people truly find confidence in their smile that they never knew was possible.

Treatment Coordinator
Jacqueline is a Virginia Beach Native who came to us with optometry experience but was ready to take the orthodontic world by storm. She has fallen in love with meeting all of our new patients and sharing in their excitement of getting started on their smile journey. She is caring, compassionate and protective over those she cares about. She spends all of her spare time with her husband Ray, and her 2 boys who are both currently Virginia Beach Firefighters. They spend any time they possibly can “glamping” in their RV or venturing out to find all of the breweries or wineries with their dog, Max.

Scheduling Coordinator
Katie, a Chesapeake native, has been in the orthodontic field since 2018! She is a mama to 2 boys who keep her on the move in every best way possible. She loves her weekly strolls through Target, but plot twist, is really a country girl at heart. She loves to be active and outdoors doing anything from working out to four-wheeling out on the country roads. At VBO, she’s taken on the role of New Patient Coordinator because of her love of meeting new people, learning their stories and backgrounds and how something as little as their smile can change their lives.

Records Technician
Kevin is a Hampton Roads Native and has been with us since 2013!! He enjoys putting smiles on our patients faces and seeing the self-esteem boosts that new smiles create. He makes it his mission to always remain upbeat and consistent to improve both coworkers and our patients' days. When he’s not working, he is always on the move outside between spending time at the beach, finding the best spots to skate, longboard, or bike and when it gets too hot crocheting or finding the best local laser tag spots in the area.

Lead Clinical Assistant
Alana was born in California and moved around growing up due to being an Army family. She has also lived in Germany, Texas, Alabama and now Virginia. She has held several customer service roles prior to finding her way into the orthodontic field after graduating with her Dental Assisting Certification. She enjoys watching our patients grow up over the years they spend with us throughout their smile transformations. Outside of work, she spends her time with her husband, Austin, and their 2 fur babies, Bean and Marley and renovating their newly bought house!

Mady is originally from Pittsburgh and has made her way to Virginia Beach. She enjoys going to the beach with her dog, Kiba. Checking out new local restaurants and local shops is what you can catch Mady doing outside of work. Mady's dream vacation would be, JAPAN!

Taylor is a Norfolk native and prior to working with us, was in school for Electrical and Computer Engineering. You often don’t see Taylor much in the office as he spends most of his time downstairs in our lab working with patient models, appliances and making retainers. Outside of work, he enjoys ballroom dancing and is trying to work up to getting good enough to get into performing!

Anna is a Virginia Beach native and graduate of ECPI with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science and Dental Assisting. She has been in the orthodontic field for 3 years. She’s a mama to two boys who keep her very busy and who drive her coffee addiction. Outside of work, she enjoys living spontaneously and loves to spend time with her family.
